Following Christ and Social/environmental concerns
This is a response I put on my friend, Karlene’s, blog. http://karleneclark.com/?p=48#comment-87 I find that I cannot be a Christian now without being concerned about God's creation and about the people who are raising our food. I don't want to buy anything that is causing suffering to someone either by pesticides or low pay or whatever. This isn't to say that a person can't be a Christian if they aren't organic. I think a lot of this comes down to a matter of conscience as Paul says. However, a little education is a dangerous thing. I still struggle over the issue of clothing. We are not clothes-horses, but it's still too expensive to not shop at Target or Penney's, which means clothes probably made in sweat shops of some sort. I boycott Wal-Mart for a variety or reasons, not the least of which is their predatory practices. Baby steps I guess. Who know where we'll be in a year.

Other than forcing out smaller local retailers, what are some other reasons you boycott Walmart?
Just curious...

They use their buying power to create low price products, causing worker in third world countries have to work long hours for very low pay in bad conditions.
