The Young Visitors

Last night Brad was out with friends, so I watched a movie called "The Young Visitors". It was written by a 9-year-old girl in Victorian times and has been in print ever since. It stars Hugh Laurie (House), Bill Nighy (Victor in "Underworld" and Davy Jones in "Pirates of the Caribbean") and other British actors who look familiar but I don't know who they are.

The movie is about Mr. Salteena, who is a lonely man. He meets Ethel on a train and falls in love with her. He offers to introduce her to the nobility he knows (only one earl played by Laurie) and so she accompanies him to the earl's manor. He confesses his love of Ethel to the earl who sends him off to a noble friend who gives lessons in being noble. This friend (played by Nighy) introduces Mr. Salteena to the Prince of Whales (remember, this is written by a 9-year-old, so there are lots of childish misunderstandings of the adult world that are hilarious) who knights him.

The ending is absurdly sad, but not really. It's just an absurd film and highly entertaining.
